Our Mushrooms

Where are the mushrooms grown?

Our mushrooms are grown in multiple locations across Asia - In China. All of the farms are Certified Organic, and produce the highest quality mushrooms commercially available.

How are your mushrooms grown? What are they grown on?

Our mushrooms are grown in controlled environments, where the temperature, humidity, lighting, and airflow are strictly controlled. This ensures the most optimal growing environment for the mushroom fruiting bodies.

The mushrooms are grown on a combination of seeds (like rye or birdseed), hardwood sawdusts (like oak), and soy hull. All ingreedients  are locally sourced by the farms. The seeds are sterilized in an industrial autoclave and rid of all bacteria. They are then inoculated with mycelium rich liquid culture, and the mycelium spreads to every grain. The bag of colonized grain is called a Spawn bag.

At the same time, in a 50/50 mixture of soy hull and hardwood sawdust + 60% hydration. This mixture is also pressure sterilized and is called mushroom substrate. The bags are then opened in a sterile environment and inoculated with some of the spawn grain. The mycelium then makes its way across the substrate. Depending on the strain of the mushroom, it will be ready to fruit and put into the fruiting chamber. The mushrooms are then exposed to the correct temperature, humidity, lighting conditions and fresh air.

Fruiting body vs mycelium on grain. What's the difference?

The quality of mushroom products can vary significantly. We exclusively utilize the entire fruiting body of the mushroom, which is carefully extracted to preserve the beneficial compounds present in the final product.

Certain companies employ a method called "mycelium on grain" to expedite the growth process. However, these products tend to have high levels of starch derived from rice or oats.

Regardless of the source you choose for your mushrooms, it is crucial to verify that they are derived from the complete fruiting body rather than myceliated grain.

What is myceliated grain?

To cultivate mushrooms, the initial step involves cultivating mycelium on a sterilized grain substrate such as rice, oats, or rye. The mycelium can be thought of as the "root structure" of the mushrooms, and the myceliated grain acts as the "seeds" in the mushroom growing process.

To grow mushrooms with complete fruiting bodies, this myceliated grain, also known as grain spawn, must be introduced to another substrate such as hardwood sawdust or logs. Only then can fully developed mushrooms be produced.

Products that employ myceliated grain will typically include terms like "myceliated rice" or "mycelium biomass powder" in their ingredient lists. In our perspective, if you seek to obtain the benefits of mushrooms, it is advisable to avoid such products. For further information on this topic, please refer to our resource.

What are the beneficial compounds in mushrooms?

Mushrooms contain a wide range of beneficial compounds, but we primarily focus on extracting and testing for fungal beta-d glucan, triterpene, and cordycepin.

The specific compounds present can vary depending on the type of mushroom and the extraction methods used. To determine the compounds present in the mushrooms you are interested in, examine the label for the supplement facts panel where the active compounds are listed.

Are your mushrooms organic certified?

Extractions

What are the concentration ratios of our extracts?

Extraction ratios are calculated by the number of grams of mushroom powder to make 1 gram of mushroom extract. The extract ratio for all of our mushrooms is 8:1. This means that 8kg of dehydrated mushroom powder is used to get 1kg of mushroom extract. It is very concentrated and packed with beneficial compounds.

How is mushroom extract made?

The process begins by harvesting whole mushrooms, which are then dried and transformed into a fine powder. Subsequently, they undergo either hot water extraction or alcohol extraction, which is akin to brewing a large-scale tea or tincture.

After an appropriate duration to extract the beneficial compounds, the liquid is subjected to a "spray drying" method, resulting in a fine powder that can be packaged in bottles, encapsulated, or incorporated into other products.

What kind of extraction method do you use?

Our mushroom extracts are made with 100% purified water extraction.

Safety

Do you test for heavy metals?

The organic certified farms provide lab analysis of the mushrooms. We are very careful to offer our clients only the highest standard of quality, that is why our products are always tested for heavy metals, pesticides and other harmful substances.

Do you provide testing results?

Yes of course! For every batch we provide the relevant lab analysis.

Capsules offer a hassle-free and convenient method of incorporating functional mushrooms into your daily routine. By taking two capsules per day, you can easily consume 1 gram of fruiting body mushroom extract.

Do I need to take these supplements daily?

For optimal results, it is advisable to incorporate functional mushroom supplements into your routine consistently on a daily basis. This allows your body to adapt to the beneficial compounds present in the mushrooms, thereby maximizing the potential benefits you can experience.

What is the best time of day to take the supplements?

There are no fixed guidelines regarding the specific timing for consuming each mushroom. It primarily depends on personal preference and being attuned to how your body reacts to individual mushrooms.

For instance, some individuals may discover that consuming Cordyceps at night provides them with an excess of energy, and can interrupt sleep. It's important to listen to your body and adjust the timing of consumption based on your own experiences and preferences.

When will I notice a difference?

Each person's experience may vary slightly due to individual differences in how their bodies metabolize the beneficial compounds present in functional mushrooms. It's important to note that the benefits of functional mushrooms are typically observed over time with consistent usage.

While some benefits may be noticeable immediately, such as increased energy or improved focus, other benefits, like enhanced immune support, may be experienced as a reduction in negative occurrences (such as a decreased frequency of getting sick). Different mushrooms possess distinct properties and can contribute to various health goals. By understanding the desired benefits, you can guide your selection and combine mushrooms that complement each other, amplifying their collective impact.

For example, Cordyceps and Lion’s Mane work very well to increase energy and focus while Reishi and Cordyceps would target your gut health and immune system.

What happens if I take more than the stated dosage?

Functional mushrooms have not been associated with established toxic levels. However, if you wish to consume a dosage higher than the recommended amount stated on the package, it is advisable to consult a qualified healthcare practitioner.
